Painted for the Drapers’ Guild in Haarlem, 1546
ceded to the Dutch State by the city of Haarlem, 1805
transferred at an unknown date and found in the attic in 1875
on long-term loan to the Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem, since 1917 (this loan proceeded via the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage, until 2013)
