Durand-Ruel, Paris, bought it from the artist, 19 September 1904, for ff 7,000 (dr stock number 7703, Danseuses attachant leurs sandales)
The same day, sold to Paul Cassirer, Berlin, for ff 10,000
sold to Max Liebermann, Berlin, 21 November 1904, for dm 10,000
deposited by Liebermann at the Kunsthaus Zürich, 9 May 1933
inherited by his daughter, Käthe Riezler, who moved to New York
on loan to the Art Institute of Chicago, October 1941-October 1942
with Paul Rosenberg & Co
purchased by the CMA on 7 February 1946
